Company presents innovative method that reduces passenger travel time

SISCOG, the software company specialised in solutions for the optimised scheduling and management of resources in transportation companies, enters a busy September with the participation in international conferences in the fields of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Optimisation and Requirements Engineering.

The 18th edition of the Artificial Intelligence Conferenc EPIA 2017, will take place from September 5-8 at the Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade do Porto and will have SISCOG as main sponsor. In this scientific event on Artificial Intelligence, SISCOG will have an exhibition space where applications of AI in its solutions will be demonstrated, such as in the planning of travel routes in passenger transport. In addition, SISCOG will be represented at this event by Ricardo Saldanha, Head of Innovation at SISCOG, who will give a presentation in the session of Business Applications of Artificial Intelligence, on the morning of September 5,  entitled "SISCOG: a Portuguese AI pioneer playing in the global market". On the 8th, SISCOG will present a paper about the creation of train timetables in which trains always depart at the same minute of every hour and result in less passenger travel time.
The second event featuring SISCOG is Optimization 2017 (September 6-8), at the Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade de Lisboa, an international conference that brings together experts from around the world in the area of Optimization. SISCOG will make two interventions within this event. A first communication on the afternoon of September 6 will focus on optimised planning of travel routes as a way to meet passenger demand and satisfaction at the lowest possible operational cost. The second SISCOG communication moment addresses the problem of compatibility between different train timetable frequencies. This communication has Ricardo Saldanha as co-author and will be presented on September 7 by co-author Professor Jorge Orestes Cerdeira, from the Universidade Nova de Lisboa.
According to Ricardo Saldanha, these conferences are "an opportunity to promote SISCOG’s work and to bring the company closer to potential partners and future collaborators, as these events have a strong participation of the Portuguese and international academia community." And adds that “these are areas that are very dear to us, AI because we were pioneers in its use and dissemination in Portugal in the early 80's of the last century, and optimization because it is the basis and purpose of our solutions for resource scheduling and management”.
In addition, during this period, SISCOG will participate in the national event on Requirements Engineering, the RE @ PT17, to be held on September 5 at the Reitoria da Universidade Nova de Lisboa and as part of the International Conference with the same name. In this event the company will share its experience in the management of software requirements, extremely important for the development of its systems.
